I'm Larry's cousin Pat. 

Larry and I took Karate together over 35 years ago in Malone, New York under Sensei Tony Zeno.  Larry continued, however, I stopped after a year and a half.

I recently retired last October 31, 2008 (mandatory retirement at age 57 for law enforcement) after having spent 30 years with the U.S. Border Patrol.  I spent 10 years on the Tijuana border and 20 in my home town of Malone.

What karate training I received, as well as the training from the Border Patrol, has been effectively utilized thoughout my career dealing with drug users, dealers, and alien smugglers on the southern and northern borders. 

My career on the northern border has connected me with many individuals, most notedly, my involvement with a Colombian terrorist ring; the leader being arrested in the Malone area. People connected with the terrorist organization Hezbolla; 2 professional Israeli Assasins smuggling $2,000,000.00 worth of ecstasy through the Malone area; a major drug bust in the Malone area (the guy happened to be my neighbor); as well as a professional hockey player smuggling drugs through the Malone area.

Needless to say, my past training has kept me safe throughout an interesting career. (a 40 cal. helps also) 

I even arrested a Russian in the Malone area who practiced Kyokushinkai back in Russia.  He was prosecuted for illegally entering the U.S. I wrote about this escapade on Mas Oyama's website a few years ago.

I own and operate Zingg's Karate Center in Ranson, WV. I am also a high school special education teacher, specializing in teens with behavior and emotional disorders.

I teach a traditional Okinawan Shorin-ryu Karate called Tozan-ryu. I also teach Shorinji Toraken-ryu Kempo-Karate and Ju-jutsu.  I am actively working on progressing in Motobu-ha Shito-ryu.

I dabble in several other arts merely to please my interests and curiosity (but hold no rank in any of them), they include Motobu-ryu Kempo, Motobu-ryu Udun-de, Mugai-ryu Iaido, Hakkoryu Ju-jutsu, and Wing Chun.

I am especially fond of traditional Okinawan and Japanese Kobudo and welcome the opportunity to train with anyone who knows some cool stuff.

I belong to several traditional organizations that promote preservation of the Japanese and Okinawan traditional Budo arts.

Before I became a school teacher I worked as a professional bodyguard for an agency in the Washington, DC area.  I still occasionally do security contracting and bodyguard work.

I am a licensed professional MMA Judge and Referee in Virginia, and also am licensed to work in amatuer events as a  judge and referee as well. 

I am married to Barbara for 34...or is it 35 years....?  since 1975...or was it 76?

I have two grown boys, Jason 29 and Joshua 21.

I'm the daughter of Shihan Larry Tatro, I'm also his student.

I began my training in 1973 under Sensei Tony Zeno.  I've trained with numerous Kyokushin legends including Soshu Shigeru Oyama, Shihan Bobby Lowe and Shihan John Farrell.  I've also been priveledged to train with Masters Bill Hayes, Karl Hovey and Garry Holman.  These experiences have given me a unique, in-depth view into martial arts.

 My name is David Evans. I Live in Tn with my wife and two sons. I work in Law Enforcement  and have recently began Martial Arts training again.

My Martial arts training has been limited unfortunately. I did however train with Shihan Tatro for two years and have trained in Modern Army Combatives, as well Self Defense for Law Enforcement. However I don't consider the two ladder to be among the Martial Arts.
